Most homeowners insurance claims are weather related, including storm damage, hail damage, and flooding. You’ve been paying on your homeowners insurance for as long as you’ve owned your home; when something happens to damage your house, it’s time to make a claim.
If you’ve never made a claim on your homeowners insurance, you might be very confused as to how to do so. Lucky for you, we talk with insurance companies every day and would be happy to help! Here are three steps to make sure everything goes as smooth as possible when you have a damaged roof, need gutter replacement, or require siding repair.
First, Contact A Professional Roofer
Call Bluebird Construction after you notice weather damage to your roof, gutters, or siding. If you notice that all of your neighbors are having inspections, that’s also a good time to call. We’ll send someone out to take a look at your roof, taking picture of any damage. If you’re at home at that time, we’d be happy to talk with you and show you how bad the damage is. Then we’ll ask you who your insurance is with and give them a call.
Second, Respond To Your Insurance Company
If you have your homeowners insurance through the local branch of a national company, it’s unlikely you’ll ever deal with the local branch. The national company will send an adjustor to verify the damage, and we’ll meet with them to point out anything they miss. They’ll call you to verify that you want to work with us in particular, and they might have some questions.
We want to make sure everything is as up-to-date and up-to-code as possible. Some insurance companies are easier to deal with than others, and some will try to wiggle out of paying for certain replacements. Because it’s a national adjustor who might not know local building codes, we’ll make sure to keep them informed.
Third, Enjoy Your New Roof!
When we have an agreement with your insurance company, we’ll put you on our schedule. Once your roof is on, enjoy it! You’ve paid for insurance and suffered damage, so you deserve a nice, new roof! Next time there’s a storm there you’ll be much more confident that it can hold up to what the weather throws at it.
If you believe you need roof repair after a recent storm, contact Bluebird Construction. We’ll help you get that new roof installation to protect your home!
